Welcome to My Garden!

This morning, the dew was still on the roses when I stepped outside with my cup of tea. Birds chattered in the trees, and the air smelled faintly of lavender. My name is Kristen, and I’m a shy gardener.

I would rather be with plants than with people. But I do love sharing my garden with people — at least when it’s looking good. 🙂

Even in its imperfect state, though, visitors seem to enjoy it. I always have a project in motion, an area I’m trying to improve. My life is the same way. It’s not perfect. It’s a work in progress. As the saying goes, God is not finished with me yet.

I don’t have a sign out front that says “Free Garden Tours,” but I’ve been told I should sign up for my town’s annual garden tour weekend next year. We’ll see.

When we first moved into this house, there was no landscaping in the front yard, gravel in the side yard, and a pile of dirt in the backyard. Over the last thirteen years, the backyard has become a romantic space for relaxing, the side yard has turned into a small flower farm, and the front yard now holds a potager garden.

In this blog, I’ll share the stories behind my gardens, the projects I’m working on, what I’ve learned from my mistakes, and the beauty of the flowers God created and allowed me to grow here.

What about you? Do you have a favorite garden space — or one that’s still a work in progress?
